JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Chief Technology Officer, the Enterprise Architect will serve as the Agency's strategic systems leader, ensuring that Salesforce, SmartCare, UKG, and financial systems are integrated, sustainable, and aligned with our mission. This role partners directly with the CTO, IT leads, project management, and regional directors to build a clear roadmap, guide change management, and continually optimize our technology ecosystem. By embedding lifecycle management practices, the Enterprise Architect ensures the Agency always operates with the best-fit solutions. This creates clarity on what it takes to deliver, enabling our teams to focus on the most important work that drives impact for children and families.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Enterprise Architecture and Roadmap
1. Defines and maintains the architectural vision across Salesforce, EHR, UKG, and financial systems.
2. Builds and manages an enterprise roadmap that aligns technology with organizational goals.
3. Ensures systems scale effectively with program growth and regulatory requirements.
4. Oversees full system lifecycle management from evaluation and adoption to optimization, refresh, and retirement to enable the Agency to operate with the most effective and sustainable solutions.
Partnership with IT and Administration
1. Works closely with IT leadership and administrative teams to identify technology needs and prioritize solutions.
2. Provides architectural guidance so projects are scoped with realistic timelines and resources.
3. Supports business analysts and project managers by giving architectural clarity and direction for enhancements, break/fix, and necessary business need changes.
Change Management and Adoption
1. Collaborates with administrative teams through change management processes, ensuring smooth transitions for staff and clients.
2. Creates documentation, standards, and best practices that reduce reliance on internal staff knowledge.
3. Partners with Support to ensure staff are trained and new systems are fully operationalized.
Vendor and Partner Engagement
1. Acts as the Agency's lead architectural partner with Salesforce and its ecosystem, county agencies, and external vendors.
2. Evaluates when to build in-house versus outsource, to help CTO best balance of sustainability, cost, and innovation.
3. Ensures vendor relationships are managed in alignment with lifecycle planning and the Agency's roadmap.
Future-Proofing and Sustainability
1. Establishes standards, structure, and consistency to make systems easier to maintain long term.
2. Reduces organizational risk by embedding scalable processes rather than short-term fixes.
3. Continuously optimizes the technology ecosystem by monitoring performance, identifying opportunities for improvement, and phasing out outdated and/or duplicative solutions.
4. Ensures technology always supports the Agency's mission of improving outcomes for children and families.
5. Completes other duties as assigned.
